First time at this, and was just trying for an effect. The 'Statue' is only about 16" tall, and sits on my entertainment center. Just thought I woudl see if I could make it look larger than life.

Would this have worked better in portrait? That way the flowers to the left, which IMO are distracting would not be in the picture. The colors in the foreground are a little washed out - looks like a difficult subject to photograph though.
That's a nice picture. Was it at night and were you using your flash? That's what it looks like. A change in lighting is necessary, that or turn the flash off and open your aperture all the way and slow the shutter speed to let the light in.
This is an interesting statue photograph. I like the angle of this shot too. The only issue I have with this shot is that the 'belly' area of this statue has, what I like to call, a 'hot spot'. This is an area where the light is a little too bright on the photo. I believe your flash may have caused this. When this happens, you can either try to set your flash to a lower power mode or you can veil the flash with something like a piece of sheer cloth material or something to reduce and disperse the light away from the subject just a little. Sometimes, scotch tape can be used to achieve this...
