I'm bound to get hammered for the pet shot, but I thought this shot was kind of fun, and one of my New Year's resolutions was to submit to more challenges. I just got my Canon EF 50mm 1.8 lens, and I tried it out at our family Christmas party. This is our dog Dudley, hamming it up on my fiance Amber's lap. It's a bit darker than I'd have liked, but I hate using the flash, and Dudley is a fast mover, so I could only go so slow on the shutter speed. Simply resized and auto levels.

I didn't think an animal candid would excite me but I was wrong. Great shot of this pooch who really looks to be enjoying the activity. The background woman's barely detectable smile adds to this as well (bokem ?)Good luck.
