A mood piece that sort of emerged in the playground of experimentation. Initially, I was seeing this as just a stock image of horses grazing in the winter fog over a distant horizon. But there was enough clipping in the shadows that I couldn't quite get what I was looking for convincingly, and I started realizing that even if I could the mood wasn't quite landing in the right register. Not wanting to scrap it entirely, I decided to begin experimenting with various filtering approaches in composite with my original edit to see what might happen. The hardest part was knowing when to stop. I may have gotten that part wrong.
