I couldn't believe my luck when I crested the hill of our rural driveway and saw this mature red-shouldered hawk perched so photogenically in the small tree literally right across the street from our property. This is the closest I've ever been able to get to one of these. I've gotten a red-tailed hawk this close, once, but just barely. And it wasn't perched this pretty.

Gorgeous! Great find and capture. Stunning bird, I am not fimular with the Red-shouldered Hawk, I am with a Red-Tail Hawk, they can be found in the NY area. I have had the oppertunity to photograph Falconers, the birds are so beautiful.
