This was taken at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This walkway is flanked with trees they actually trim into square cubes. I have taken several pictures of them in full foliage, but I have generally been disappointed in them. The images never seemed to capture the meticulous detail and unique look of these square trees. However, on this late fall morning I was struck by the chaotic lines of the bare branches stopping abruptly in straight lines, and I loved the shadows.

I thought I recognized this place! I haven't been to the Chicago Botantical Garden since...geez...my earliest hobby photo days back in 2004-05. But I remember going there after a fresh snow once and everything seeming so magically picturesque--and surreal in exactly the way your image depicts.
