 The nights are getting cooler now. When hummingbirds sleep which can be for 8 to 12 ours a night they go into a state called torpor. Their heart rates drops from 1200 to about 50 beats per minute ,their body temperatures normally about 105 degrees Fahrenheit may drop to 50 degrees and breathing reduces from 250 breaths per minute to 5. It can take up to an hour to get their metabolism back up when they awake in the morning. In a deep state of torpor they may sleep upside down! They can survive in temperatures below freezing. Truly remarkable creatures!!

oh WOW .. what you wrote about hummingbirds .. just amazing ..
as is your photo of course btw .. :)
not to get into an argument .. but this is totally about holes .. you have definitely satisfied the challenge in my opinion .. the hummingbird just gives a lovely bit of interest to all those holes in the fence ..

and imagine you got a photo of one of those hummingbirds sleeping upside down ..
now that would be one for the books .. or one for dpc .. lol .. ;)

I mean there are holes in the fence, but it's really a picture of the bird. Quite a nice one too.
