After seeing all the entries - although I gave you an 8 I think your before was too good and the edit was a toss up of taste of which way to go because both are great. BTW - that kiddo is TOO cute!!

This was my top score. I know some people don't like softness in portraits, but I think the tones and the softness works with the feel of the portrait. I don't think all portraits need to be photo-realistic. I like having some artistic realistic (if there is such a thing :)
