i cloned out a hot spot from the lights. then masked the eye - selectively sharpened that. duplicated the BG layer - converted that ( behind the mask ) to greyscale using channel mixer. then set the opacity of the BW layer to 85%.
This is an incredible shot! It is almost scary to see the look in his eye (although I assume that he is your family dog and not scary at all). Great macro shot with detail! A+++
