 Salt-saturated water of Dead sea creates these patterns near the shore, as well as many other amazing structures. These are only cantimeter-scale (the frame spans maybe 1-2 feet). But visually similar saline structures on a much larger scale can also be found at the Dead see, as seen in this (not mine) aerial photo
