Voted earlier, returning to comment. This is a well-constructed image from a technical perspective and it's pleasing enough to look at, but in the end I can't feel a lot of love for it. This is partly because the image is very "flat" from a lighting perspective, which is of course unavoidable given the overcast sky, but it's not the best way to create a free-study image that will compete well against all the striking images that get entered. Arguably, if you'd processed more weight into the sky and did a radial vignette to subtly darken the image as we move away from the aloe plant you'd pick up a better score. In any case, I gave it a 6 and would expect it to finish in the 5.7-6.0 range. |
