A Fourth of July celebration, American paean to independence, though the freedom aspect is rather nicked. But this is lovely, a quiet - except for the fireworks - gathering in the neighborhood, friends and familiars joining in a summer ritual. It looks so very right. The beautifully balanced composition echoes the intimacy and mood. Happily lit by the fireworks. And details such as the moon peeking through the tree, the hyphenated wire overhead, it all conjures up a delicious moment, birth of a golden memory. Perfect in black and white.
