I experimented with several ideas for this challenge and decided to display the variety of the results. I also submitted a single Physiogram in the "Darkness in Color" Challenge which was my overall favorite single pattern. For that result as well as 4 of the patterns in this composition I did the following:
1) Placed 3 LED flashlights on a wooden plank each with a different color filter. 2) I hung the plank from the ceiling with string attached to both sides. 3)I placed my camera on the floor on a plastic support. 4) The camera was set in the Bulb mode for 1 1/2 minutes. 5) I began the rotation of the lights in a dark room. 6) after 25 seconds I placed a lens cap on the camera and moved it to the far left position, reset the rotation of the lights and removed the lens cap for 25 seconds.7) Replaced the lens cap and moved the camera to the middle, Reset the rotation of the lights and removed the lens cap for the remainder of the time. I tried this multiple times and never got the same result.
For the circular physiograms I used a single light source and fabricated interchangeable filter caps that could be changed on the flashlight while the lens cap was on the camera during the timed exposure. Again different results were achieved each time. It became quite addicting trying to come up with different swing patterns, exposure times, filter colors, etc. Lots of fun!
