Taken in the village of Mystic Seaport, CN. with my wife's Canon Elph w/flash. Felt that the shipright forging a tool with hammer and anvil was about as low tech as you can get.
In Photoshop: Cropped for size; unsharpened mask by 100% , radius of 4; adjusted image curves for brightness and contrast; adjusted color curves; cropped once more.

Although this image is somewhat busy, the inferenece to low technology or at least old ways is very clear here. Good job of catching light in what seems a low light circumstance (fill flash?) I think a tight crop would make this a more artistic and improve the presentation, but find the link to the challenge to be very solid.
What could be more low tech than muscle, skill, fire and iron? Brilliant choice of subject. Great range of eath tones. Nice use of motif with the iron rods hanging in the background. Excellent piece.
Beautiful capture, and certainly low tech! A strong contender here. One thing I think can be improved here is the composition; I think it would be good to crop a bit from the left, and putting his head around the sweet spot. Great shot overall.
Excellent photo. Good emotive subject, caught in mid-strike. Colors reinforce the old-time feeling. I might have cropped a bit off the right but it's still a terrific entry as is. Among my top picks.
Great idea, although the colors seem a bit washed out in this photo. Also it may have benfited from a closer crop showing just the hands, arms, hammer, and anvil.
