Digital imaging is being used in dentistry for the fabrication of crowns, dentures, veneers, implants, and even orthodontics. The imaging process involves taking multiple images which overlap and are stacked as the dentist moves the wand over the area. The computer then stitches the images together. An Area can be cut out and reimaged if necessary to correct an error. The scan is then emailed to the laboratory or to a “lathe’” in the office which produces the final restoration.
