I showed our son, the photo right way up and upside down, he thought it looked more intriguing upside down...so upside down it went.

Thanks Wendy, I did a quick crop and I have to say it does look a lot better.
Thanks for the critique and nice comments, I actually took this a few hours after the challenge was announced, I knew there was going to be a lot of rain that afternoon, so I headed into the city. I came across this alleyway by accident on my way back to the car. Just as well because the photos that I taken before hand weren’t that great.

and .. stunning black and white conversion .. love it .. :)
How do you know this Russian word, Anita? I m impressed, however I wouldn't use it in this case, probably
I’m a secret Russian agent, oh wait it’s not a secret any more. No really, I was stuck for a decent title, I had “after the downpour” At first. Then I changed it to something I can’t remember. Anyway I often do this, I will punch into Google translate A word that describes the photo, I really can’t remember which word I typed in at this time. But I will go through all the different translations from Afrikaans to Swedish, to Hebrew, to Russian. I kind of like the word in Russian, so Russian it was!
I see. What I meant is that in Russian, rasputitsa means specifically a road condition when (upaved) country roads become unpassable either after a heavy rain or spring snow melting
I realised I got the meaning incorrect, I just really loved the word. And I was hoping no one would look it up :-) of course I forgot about you :-)
Wonderful work, my top pick, and my only 10. I really regret not having commented on this challenge as there were any number of excellent entries, but I was super busy last week.
It is a fine intrigue. (I wondered about "rasputitsa:" maybe a grand offspring of the infamous monk? I guess everything breaks down into muck eventually).

I would love to see this in a portrait crop. The center is just magnificent, but there's just too much on the sides that distract from it.
Or perhaps lighter in the center and a graduated neutral density coming in from each of the sides?
Normally I assume that people have things just the way they want it. But this one just feels like it could be a stunning 10. But it's just feeling like a 7 now. Tantalizingly close to truly incredible.
I really like this picture. Great idea to flip it, very creative. I keep thinking whether I personally would have preferred it more centralized - would like to see it to decide :-)
