Abacus - From the Greek word abax, meaning "calculating board" or "calculating table," the Chinese abacus was invented during the Yuan Dynasty, 1280-1368 AD. Often referred to as the first computer, the abacus is used to add, subtract, multiply and divide, as well as figuring fractions and square roots. In certain Asian communities, abacuses are still being used to calculate invoices.

Wow, a bean counter with actual beans! Good choice for the challenge. The pixelated edges are distracting, and the corner at top right is an awkward crop, but color and composition are good.
Great example of low tech. Like the addition of currencies and beans and the choice of background color is a perfect offset to the abacus itself. The texture of the table adds a subtle grain that adds quite a bit of interest to the whole and the angle chosen with crop makes for a very solid contender.
Nice idea, and you bet it is still in use, I can see it being used everyday at the place aI live. Just a little suggestion, next time, instead of beans, use rice, it will be much better IMHO.
