there are several visual tricks going on here. The foreshortened feathers echo the bokeh. The bird looks like it's chained by the leg. The bokeh obliterates the sense of depth and looks more like a curtain directly behind the bird,, which in turn makes the bird's perch look like a stage or a pedestal. I'm reminded of King Kong performing on Broadway. It's an absurd photo, but also absurdly entertaining.
