Mont San Michel - on my bucket list since I first learned of it decades ago. Finally got to go and it is everything I'd imagined, and more.
We had extraordinarily dramatic weather, with crazy clouds, which threatened with rain all the time. We were extremely fortunate to avoid getting drenched.
Until we decided to go out in the evening to try and get this shot.
Moments after I took this shot, the sky emptied on us, and we slogged the 4 kms back to the island from this point. We were drenched down to our underwear, and it was hilarious.
This is at about 10 pm - it stays pretty light until pretty late there. The tide was not this high - it isn't at this time of year - so I duplicated the sky to create the mirror image, which is what the island might look like during the twice-yearly extra high tide.
