It has been 14 years since I won my first ribbon. It was called "The Morning After" in the "Oops Challenge". Here is the picture:
I thought this challenge was a great opportunity for me to try to improve on that picture. I took in the comments and tried to correct its deficiencies plus add a little extra. I found it to be an interesting and fun challenge. My technique was basically the same (read my description in the original image). I glued 2 coffee cups to a table and set the table at approximately 60 degree angle to the floor. I improved upon the backround and the lighting from the image I took in 2003. I used a lot of sugar mixed in with the milk to give it a more syrupy consistency which gave me better control of the flow of the milk. I had to pour the liquid and push the shutter button at just the right time. I had to get the liquid aimed perfectly so that it would land close to the middle of the cup and before it ran out of the cup. I was amazed and lucky that I was able to achieve an acceptable result after only the 2nd try. Post shot adjustments were minimal. I rotated the image, cropped, levels, sharpened and lightened the stream of milk as the sugar had darkened it slightly. Here is a picture of my setup:.
I hope this entry is received with as much enthusiasm as the first. It was really fun to do.
