Are you sure it's an alligator? Almost looks like a gar fish amongst other things. Would have liked the colours deepened.

The focus seems a bit soft, try applying USM in post processing. Contrast is a bit low too, try adding more in PP.

Hey, it's Gar Field! Now THERE'S something you don't see every day. The flat light isn't particularly flattering (not sure if this is his good side anyway). A late afternoon or early morning sun would make all the difference on this one.
