I met Marisa at a local photography meetup focused on portraiture. She was great. You might recognize her from my Defining Feature entry taken the same day:
For me, both are strong portraits, but I credit the model more than the photographer.
There were lots of photographers at the meetup and a few models. Marisa was both. You can check out her Instagram account here. In case you were wondering, she has alopecia.
The starting location of the meetup was the Bean/Cloud Gate. While waiting for things to start I took a couple shots of the Bean.
As with most Extended Free Study entries, I had no specific plan. Per my usual MO, as the deadline approached I combed the last month looking for one or two strong images I might work with, and I liked this shot of Marisa.
There is nothing fancy to the editing. It is a straight gradient of the two images (albeit at a slight angle). The profiles of the Bean and her head were nearly an exact match.
In case you aren't sure how you feel about a composite of a woman's head and a piece of sculpture, I hear you. After I did it part of me really liked the image and part of me thought, "What have you done to this lovely young woman?" So, I showed it to Marisa first. She was cool with it.
