An interesting image that meets the challenge well
You're right, the gossip is as much a part of the experience as the hair itself. Your image captures well one of many moments where the mirrored eye contact is engaging both in an important part of the story that takes precedence over the immediate task itself. It is nicely captured in a candid way that feels totally natural and therefore convincing. Your composition is excellent including the foreground tray and soft focus background shows that we are at the hairdressers as opposed to a home setting. The mono processing is good and suits the subject well, the exposure is perfect with good detail throughout and positioned in such a way as to block out the bright light of the window.
