The background doesn't work with the gold. Looks a little blurry too. Maybe a darker background with a gold border?

The photo is out of focus, try not getting so close, then cropping more later to see if that produces a sharper result.

Nice. I'm wondering how you lit the ring so that there are no shadows? I've tried to photograph one of my own with no success - a few words of advice would help me greatly.

The residue or whatever it is on the onyx doesn't do this photo any favors. Overall, the picture just seems kind of lifeless to me.
