For me the mood is one of sadness - I tried for a somber, graveyard look and thought of the full range of emotions within "sad": from the gentle sorrow one feels when a very old loved one dies to the feeling of sadness tinged with relief when the death ends a painful illness to the wrenching heartbreak the loss of a young person or one's child brings. Some of these vehicles had lived long and useful lives; others had met their ends far too soon in an accident.
And I'm sorry I missed the sentence about the title - no one has mentioned that so far, but I know now I ought to have called this Salvage Yard or something like that. I even copied and pasted the description into a discussion in another group I'm in so I'd get it right. But the space between the first sentence and the second tripped me up and I didn't get it all :(
Thanks for all the comments. Lots of people got half there - PennyStreet came up with just the word I was looking for - not that anyone was "wrong" :)
