Chalk artists/screevers who draw these wonderful ephemeral works of art exhibit the creative drive. If asked why create street paintings when an artist's efforts just disappear shortly after completion, the response will be, "this is performance art, where the process of creating the work is more important than the finished piece". The title has a double meaning. The first is the obvious definition of the phrase - the second is a playful pun on the fact the canvas is on the street or rather driveway'.
Every year on one weekend in Febuary the two main streets in downtown Lake Worth are transformed into a giant canvas which hundreds of chalk artists draw upon to show fantastic art creations. This was the first time the family and I had an opportunity to go and it was amazing. From a Tall Ship to BB8 to a Toucan to a Dragon there was all sorts of amazing artwork being drawn upon the street.
