The challenge description said "Do a little research, and get in the spirit of things!" - so I did. I found the above information (on 3 different websites) and according to the research the photo met the challenge description. In fact, I was very surprised that there weren't other photos similar to it.
Macro photography is a challenging area for me but I thought I'd try it to stretch my abilities. Like others here I really do appreciate the votes and comments whether positive or negative on my photographs. Comments help me to improve.
However, voters who may have dinged the entry simply because they assumed it did not meet the challenge were, in my opinion, not fair. They obviously made an incorrect assumption and would have realized it had they done some reading. I would like to think people wouldn't intentionally do that to others especially since no one would want others to do make assumptions on their entries. I urge people to do research on a topic before they assume the photo does not match the challenge criteria.

It is a thin tie, and I mean THIN tie to the theme...mums and their Asian lore and roots. It's a decent shot, to my eye maybe a little too smooth and oddly flat. 3
I was hoping to learn something from these images about the year of the monkey. And especailly about peoples' interpretations about what a monkey year is. I'm afraid I don't get much from this image. You spelled Chrysanthemum correctly at any rate. I honestly can't see where this fits in with the challenge.
