The old guy in the wooden frame (with curved glass over the image) is our children's great-great grandfather.
Apparently, they splurged on the whole portrait thing.. which was a huge splurge back then.
Just the FRAME and glass was TEN dollars!
I'm glad they did.
I treasure this. I didn't possess it until a couple of years ago.
Here is the back of the frame.
The antique iron is one of two I have of my Hubby's mom's family. The little toy tractor on the floor is my Hubby's father's when he was a boy.
(Yes, I know that these things aren't all period proper together. So sue me. I had fun. *grin*)
The glass jar was my Daddy's. The uniform coat on the chair is from a friend of my mom's whose father wore it in a war... WWII.
I like old stuff, you know.
Reminds me of...
Me. :D
I tried to shoot this with my wide-angle lens... but it kept skewing the scene. I suspect that that's what happened to my recent Pet Portrait image (on old bench) even though there were some odd angles in reality.
So, I broke out a lens I never use any more... (I need to sell some stuff, I see)... and shot with it.
It skewed also. *sigh*
Never mind then... *grin*
