In the children's area at the Omaha zoo there is an archaeological dig: buried dinosaur bones covered with that fine, shredded rubber from tires or something and all sorts of digging tools, brushes, buckets lying around. The kids love it though most don't play as they are "supposed to" - the little ones fill buckets and then dump them out and start over again or make roads. I was walking by on my way back to my husband and granddaughter (I'd gone to check on tram tickets, they had gone to pet the goats) when I spotted this group of children doing what kids love to do and getting buried in the "sand". The area has a back wall and a roof. These kids were against that wall and way over on the right so the light was lovely. Must admit I didn't notice how lovely it was until I got home and downloaded. I was just taken with their play and took a few snaps as I passed.
Oh, and I usually mount my telephoto for the zoo which was just what I needed here.

I hope they stopped when they reached the neck! I love the fact that this looks not a bit like an actual "Ocean" beach- the fact that the "sand" looks big and chunky like cat litter makes this a terrific snap.
This is probably one of the best photos in this challenge. And one of the best childhood photos I've seen in a long time on this website. Something that just grabbed me as soon as I looked at it!!
Love the child standing up with the pebbles in their hands about to drop....and the look on the children's faces, brings me back to my childhood and the simple joys children can have playing outside thank you!
