This is the newest National Park in the United States - The Sand Dunes National Park in the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. Alamosa is the largest city in the valley. The Sand Dunes used to be a National Monument and was just changed to a National Park.

Beautiful! The textures and patterns of light and shadow are amazing. The sand, mountains, and stormy, then blue, sky make an incredibly varied image. The best so far!
Love the lighting on the dunes. Really beautiful. Also love the mountains and the low clouds. Almost wondering if cropping out the blue sky would work, too...? Nice job.
I have spent quite a bit of time in Morocco and in the Sahara. This reminds me very much of what I saw there. The composition is terrific. I like the zones of the photo (plane, dunes, mountains, clouds and sky) and the way they reinforce each other. I like the dramatic contrast fo the dunes and their perfectly captured color. I like the light falling on the brooding mountains that seem to be watching over the dunes like a parent watching over a child. I'd like to know where you took this. You really nailed it! (10)
Interesting image. Perhaps a little too busy with the couds.. but perhaps they reflect the mountains and dunes.. .. there are a lot of layers.. but i think perhaps 1 too many... nice image though
