The technical aspect is a mystery to me, a mystery that made these images live in my mind and make their own connections.
The first image puzzles me, I would not make it part of the stunning B&W following photographs.
The three ones, figments of imagination or representation of racing images overlapped on memory engraved stories: processions, cruises and tempests and old sea stories, backyard with a lost hen left out from Noah's Ark (brilliant)…enchanting.
standing on a sidewalk, a parade, one band has gone by, the next is approaching. there is a moment when all the instruments mingle, magic. beautiful essay
When i see something like this i start to dabble with the idea of learning film technique. Of course overlays can be done with all digital (and you have done it brilliantly in another essay) but i think there is something more to these that, as yet, i haven't figured out. It would be interesting to see these as prints. I think their "specialness" would be further enhanced. Inspiring essay.
Absorbing. And long-lasting. Like one of those Choo-Choo bars of our youth; they satisfied from start to finish, and they never did seem to finish. This essay will reward consideration for as long as the viewer cares to look, and in my case that's a long, long, Choo-Choo bar time.
A particularly thrilling idea for me, that you have graced each of analog & digital with equal billing. You let me see them in this essay as the Vladimir and Estragon of photography. I might never be able to consider them separately again now.
The pictures are beautiful, complex and (sorry about this) ambiguous. I loved trying to more clearly tease out one of each pair with each of my eyes, and that nearly worked but they always swam back into concurrence before I could make any notes. So I'm none the wiser and all the better informed for that.
The chook? The chook is a little bottler, mate. Go the Chooks! Thank you.
Overlaying analog and digital is something we wouldn’t notice without your associated text. On the surface it seems insignificant. Why does source or process matter? It matters because this is the path we choose. Destinations are just doorways we pass through along the way. Most of our long lasting memories happen while en route.
