Photo made at the Honolulu War Memorial, which has been locked up for as long as I can remember.
Processing was done with LR, On1, and PS for the photo of the gated entry. I made a separate photo of a book I own to use as a background, a border, and a texture layer, with all the original text removed or covered over by the first photograph. I added two additional textures and blended them all to create the cover beneath the photo of the gate. Text was added for a fictional title, mystery series, reference to NYT, and author. Resized in On1 and cropped slightly to even up the edges.

Jared always hated war memorials. They seemed part of a cycle of glorification that would only lead to more death and more memorials. But he wasn't here to celebrate or mourn the past. He was here because there was one death too many at this memorial, and he needed to find out why.
There is a lot that I like about this cover:
The title (mostly the way it looks). The rest of the text (i.e. WHAT you chose to write). The font. The placement of the text. The overall colour scheme. The background picture/texture.
What I don't like is the way the image is just sort of plopped there. For once, I would really like to see a border and/or different placement and/or no image at all.
That image just looks so out of place in an otherwise very pleasing book cover design.
