Does this look like an early evening sun filtering through a bar window onto a bar top? If so, then my illusion works :)
This is actually a small end table. To the left of the end table I have an afghan hung. About 20 feet away is an Elinchrom strobe with a reflector dish attached. I moved it away to give this more of a hard light through the holes of the afghan. At first I had it at 10 feet, but that soft light didn't look dappled enough.
With a bit of help of white balance, the sun light illusion is complete.
Of course I took a number of photos with different angles and perspectives. But none of them made me as interested in the photo as this one. The slight tilt and the slight off center is appealing to me. It gives it more of a sense of real rather than setup.

The dapple is definitely present - just wish more of the glass could have been more in focus. My personal opinion, of course, good connection with the challenge but technically confused. Sorry - three from me.
