I fully expect that some folks will kick me because there are people in the world who still choose to smoke, and I chose to photograph one. We've all lost friends and loved ones to cancer, and I get that. I'm also a photographer, and I shoot what's around me. It's what grown ups do.

A top five image IMHO. What takes this above most of the other images in the challenge, for me, is the use of light in the way it is contained by his hands, face, and jacket. It gives warmth to the point of interest and lets the rest of the photo fall into darkness. Well done.
