While on vacation in Maui a couple years ago, my last vacation, we were walking the streets of Lahina, and my eye caught the Peter Lik studio. But, at the time, I had no idea what I was looking at. I had mixed feelings about what I was viewing. Colors seemed to be strong in most of his creations. Nature has strong colors, but these seemed to be over the top just a little bit. I did like the huge prints and presentations. I guess I walked out of the gallery with another sense of direction for my own photography. I wanted to take photos on that grand of a scale, and I figured I could do that with some training and practice.
I'm not sure if this entry comes close to the images of Peter Lik, but I think I did create a pretty cool photo, and one that I have been wanting to capture for a while.
If you are driving to Boulder from Golden or vice versa on Hwy 93 in Colorado, then you will see this vast open space. I am not fond of the grafitti on the shack, but I could not do anything about that in advanced editing.
This image was created with 3 exposures using the 24mm tilt/shift lens. Take one photo straight on, then one shifted far left and one far right. Photoshop blends the images perfectly. The one thing I did have issues with was the color balance from left to right. Had to work on that a little bit to get them to be equal. Also, I think I came up with a good balance of "strong" colors and tones. In Colorado, during the autumn, these tones can be seen all over the eastern and middle part of the state.

I love the warmth of the sunlight on the dried grass and the balance with the slightly stormy sky. Makes me want to go out on an adventure. But I also love the purple on the building. My favorite in this challenge.
Amazing sky, amazing field, amazing mountain but what an ugly construction in the middle. Looks like a target for military exercise. A 7 from me. (9 if no target)
