This was taken in a dark room with a camera on extremely slow shutter speed. Then we used a light and influenced its movement to create s figure.

A smaller aperture and longer exposure might have allowed better ambient light and a less blown-out light pattern, also it looks like there might be some kind of smudge on your lens.
