This shot was accomplished using one single long exposure, while the girls were hit with a flash, moved, and were hit with a flash again several times. It was terribly cold, which gave their skin some interesting tones.
The image has been had a small contrast adjustment, been cropped, framed, and unsharp masked.

I just came back and wanted to say how I loved this image, I was really stunned to read some of the negative comments...aside from overly puritain and constipated ones...what blows my mind is that some people, who do not grasp the technique, assumed it was a composite. pretty sad.
I've been very suprised by the dramatic contrast in reactions to this shot. These girls did a fantastic job of creating powerful and sensual imagery without being distasteful in the least. The image was validated so I really don't understand the continual accusations that it was a composite, especially considering the image placing 8th in the "Defining Feature" challenge being shot using the exact same technique.
A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, and especially comment.
Nice, nice, nice! Can't wait to see how this was done. The biggest lady looks like she's gotten a flash right between the eyes, which is not very cool. Also i don't think the square composition here adds to the shot. The predators are supposed to be dynamic, so i would make it horizontal. 8 because of these two things.
I'm speachless - I have to say this is one of the best images I have seen in a long time. Did you use the black card technique for this? The composition is amazing, the lighting just right and you obviously had a clear idea in your mind when you were shooting this. (10) - I'd give you more if I could :)
Pretty spooky. Since this is validated I assume is one shot done with multiple exposures. If so, very good job as I do not see any trails. Great imagination.
Nice long exposure! I actually would have loved it better if the exposure of the couple crouching in the far corner with the flash-lit ground/wall were the Only exposure leaving the rest in black negative space, for me personally that would have made a stunning & powerful shot in this cropping....but as it is, it is a fine job!
