Build in 1827 by Chief Richardville, the son of a French fur trader and the sister of Chief Little Turtle (Miami tribe). Believed to be the wealthiest person in Indiana at his death in 1841.

The house is the oldest Native American structure in the midwest, the first Greek Revival house in Indiana, and the only extant Treaty House in the nation.

Its location is just off a major road in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. You drive along side a bank drive-through, and up a fairly short drive, and the front of the house is parallel to the road on your right side. One could forget for a moment that it is 2014 - the house sits in a small clearing, and one could imagine folks riding up the lane on horseback, with Native Americans, Fur Traders, and others around the grounds. What a grand house this would have been at that time!

Chief Richardville (and his mother) built their fortune by controlling the "long portage" between the St. Mary's and Wabash rivers, providing a key connection on the route from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

I like the tight crop, but find the image too noisy for my liking.

consider sizing to 600 max on vertical side so that it all fits on the screen without scrolling - sky looks a bit grainy, chimney on left is overexposed

I think 3 steps to the left would have helped this image immensely. I feel that buildings like this were meant to be powerful and strong. Having the home totally square and center would have helped to convey these feelings.
