My in-laws took us down to the Florida Keys for snorkeling and what turned out to be my family's first-ever SCUBA dive.
My teenage daughters said they wanted to get up for at least one sunrise, and for some reason I was waking up in time to see it without an alarm (I'm normally a major night owl).
I woke up, they got right up with me, and out we went. I'd been shooting for a while from the seawall past the dock when it occurred to me to put them in the shot. They jumped a few times, and then this bird wandered into the shot. I didn't even notice it as I was shooting.
But the minute I saw it in the LCD, I knew that was the shot!
I'm absolutely thrilled to place so high with this image that means so much to me. :)

Seriously underrated. I expected this one to get the blue by a wide margin. The expressive jumps and timing to get that bird in just the right spot for composition are blind luck perfect.
