OK, so here's why I did this image.
Around the time that the challenge was announced, a singer named Conchita Wurst had just won the Eurovision Song Contest with a song called 'Rise Like a Phoenix'.
Conchita is a transgender person who used to be a man but is now a woman. Except she decided to leave her beard on.
The song talks about transforming and rising like a phoenix. So I thought it would be a good idea to make a Phoenix picture using hair and beauty related items. The time and resources available to me meant I had to take a few shortcuts and the whole thing got a bit rushed towards the end.
The background is made from rows of shampoo bottles, tins of hairspray etc. on the kitchen table.
The phoenix has shower hose umbilicals and the legs are mixer taps (faucets).
I had to go to the hardware store to get a photo of some chain. The wings are from a photo of roof tiles stretched and warped into shape.
If you want to see the Eurovision Song Contest winner, you can do so here.

The first thing you obviously see are the fantastic colors and very pleasing image. However, that is far from being all: reading your notes make me love your creation even more, as it is also an hymn to tolerance. Beautiful AND conceptual: hats off.
Please tell me you're writing some Comments, 'cos I'm coming back to read them. This is interesting & entertaining, & I wish I could understand the details.
