i came to your profile to just check .. on something that i already felt .. before i commented on your march side challenge entry .. and this one struck me as a thumb on your page ..
so emotive .. i really dont have the appropriate words to express what impact this image had on me ..
so i'll leave it at that .. but .. INTENSE .. :)
you certainly capture reality in your photographs .. and i love your black and white images .. this is wonderful .. :)
many congrats on your 4th place ..:)
I don't know whether this is a posed shot, or a 'found' one - I would be delighted if it was the latter, but in any event, it is a cracking photograph. It makes me long to know something of the lady's story.
This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Tonally and given the glow (and stonework), this looks like one of John's
2. A very evocative image that brings mixed emotions
3. I think the image makes a connection - this is most acutely felt through the capture of her arthritic, oedematous hands
Overall it's a bold, slightly in-you-face image that communicates humanity well.
