Went to our local mini-zoo, looking for some wild animals but none of my shots really worked out. I happened to photograph this wild hadeda that was sitting on a fence nearby. These birds are very common and an annoyance to us South Africans, but I suppose their feathers can be quite attractive.

Not easy to catch these guys they are normally quite nervous and flighty. They are so common place throughout Southern Africa and have taken well to the suburbs. Very sharp image with beautiful capture of the purple blue glimmer seldom seen as they are quite mobile and the shimmer is fleeting. Should do well on DPC, bright colourful, crisp.
It must be so exciting to be able to see birds such as these in the wild! The blues and lilacs of the plumage are lovely, as is the metalic sheen you have captured. The greens of the bokeh are a good foil. At some point I would be interested to see a wider shot, with some idea of scale.
