Christmas Day at the ranch/resort that I manage. Beautiful crisp morning with blue skies and an opportunity for some lucky guests to take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise.
***I was going to enter this as a B&W with selective color on the balloon but my wife said she preferred the color version, even with the weird hues. Lesson: trust myself and don't listen to my wife, although I love her dearly!

I would really like this because of the subject, the composition and because i grew up here … but the colors are wonky on my calibrated monitor. Too bad, really. Maybe a sepia selective desat with the balloon in color might have been interesting.
North country people are certainly intrepid. Why should the depths of winter put a crimp in the fun? There's a curiously cool cast to this sunlit scene.
