A 10 from me - tied with giantmike 's for top. I found it a most interesting take on the challenge and a very fine portrait. Congratulations on the HM

One of my favorites this challenge. Love the light, the textures and the velvet black of the shadows. 10

Good emotion here. This seems to be the general state of affairs for people when there is so much darkness.

The shortest day seems to have made your subject a bit sad. Me too. And I love the photo.

I like the emotion this evokes. I can't tell whether the man is depressed or hopeful and I really like the implied religious tone with the crosses on the sill.

Beautifully tells a story of a wary man surviving the dark mysteries of the solstice with his Christian amulets. In his thick-walled but still chilly room, peering out the window, the old days and old ways are not forgotten. My favorite of the challenge.
