What an amazing morning for shooting. I noticed the sky losing cloud cover the night before, so I crossed my fingers that the sun would shine brightly in the morning. It did :)
I drove around (it was -15F, before the windchill, so hell if I was going to walk) some rural areas in search of early morning light scenes. I found so many great scenes, I want there to be a dozen challenges right now to fit them all in.
This one was one of my absolute favorites. This creek was wide open, and at this spot, fog/steam was pouring off of it. The interesting thing is that along the rest of the stream, that wasn't the case. The sun was in the perfect position to be somewhat blocked, which means it's easier to get a wider range of light. Still, I employed exposure bracketing to combine in HDR later.
As I said, I really love this shot. It's very likely to be printed on metal and hung on my wall.

Wow, gonna keep track of some milestones here. At 15 votes, I had an 8.07!! I have never seen a score this high with that many votes. I'm sure it will drop, but it sure is fun.

45 Vote check in. A little more of a drop. at 7.57. Votes 36-40 were particularly lower, bringing me down into this range. Obviously I'm still very happy. This is likely approximately the half way point for vote totals with recent voting trends. Let's see what the last half brings us.

Well, here we have it! My highest scoring image ever! Still cannot achieve that blue ribbon for some reason. Oh well, I'm happy :)
