I found this snowy egret in the shallow freshwater of McKinney Falls, just above the falls, It was fishing in the grass and actually caught a fish as I watched.

Thanks! I appreciate all the comments I got during this challenge. They were very instructive. :) I'm thrilled to have done as well as I did. I think this is the best photo I've ever taken, but I didn't have a sense of how it would place among the really talented DPC contenders.
WOWnderful colours, and reflection, very well exposed whites! Just one issue: the head should be more in focus or sharper... I guess she was quite far from you, they are very coward animals and they are hard to approach.

Looks almost like a painting! The warm colors are very inviting, has a very autumn/fall feel to it. The soft focus also adds a somewhat dreamy feel to the image also. The reflection adds a somewhat symmetrical feel to the shot, and the composition is wonderful. Only nitpick is the exposure, which is really difficult with these birds, as it looks like you've blown the highlights on the top of the body.
