wow, did not see that before (shows how often I visit DPC now :)) . Wonderful image, deserving all the bling! Love the implicit present of the main "subject"
I resisted rewarding this because it was too perfect, then I had to give it my blue because it was too perfect. Posthumous Blue Ribbon, with that title.

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is my only 10 - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. The pan-generational contrast between your dad and daughter.
2. The magic trick of having got this depth of field indoors in natural light.
3. The implicit presence of the TV.
4. The fantastic placement of the mug - domesticating the context so thoroughly.
5. The light, especially how it plays across your dad's face.
6. The overall documentary feel of the image.
For whatever reason, this gives me the feeling of "The Grapes of Wrath". Maybe its the environment, toned down light, clothing, multi-generation subjects, the sober looks... Very emotive image. B&W hits the mark. Good luck on the voting.
Great photography and going with good processing. Nothing beats this... Especially all these super expert photoshop challenges. Give us more photography like this. Good job on capturing a soul stirring moment
