So many things went through my mind when I thought about this challenge. The encouraging words from Peter: to go forth and create our art. But I am drawn so much more to Peter's own story of strength, struggle, and above all, his facing the unknown with such grace, power, and gusto. His is a zestful journey to the end. Whatever lies out there for you, Peter, it is bright and beautiful.
[POST CHALLENGE]
I am so very, truly grateful to all of you for placing me on the podium in this challenge. I have never met Peter, but he has become a very special friend. And doing well in this challenge meant so very much to me. That it happened for my birthday is just a ton of icing on the cake.

Been a bit tied up lately so a late congrats on your Red Johanna! Very nicely done - love the ethereal/mystical feel of this. I see her as a 'guardian angel' pointing the way to safe passage through the darkness ahead.
Not only is this very artistic but has all the spiritual qualities I believe you intended. Your response to this challenge was perfect (IMHO). Congrats.
Well deserved ribbon. Fabulous shot. I love the processing. It almost looks like it was shot in the moonlight, but the shadows suggests otherwise. Nice job, Johanna
If this is not a J.NN, then she has a problem with an artist as cool and gifted as she is. Simply art, simply beautiful. 10
I score the image, and will give it a 10 again even if presented by ex Pres. Puppet Bush or Puppet master Cheney. Love this and wish I could make it more.
Frankly, I'm getting tired of the over use of Instagram-like filters but you've done a really good job of using density to really highlight your subject. I like this shot.
