This is Saghmosavank, a 13th century Armenian monastery complex located in the village of Saghmosavan in Armenia. The scenery around this monastery is absolutely breathtaking. Armenia is truly a heaven for the photographers. On the left (not captured here) there is a steep cliff leading down to the Kasagh river. I could spend hours in this area shooting this monastery from all kinds of different angles. A local Saghmosavan woman is showing her pride towards her village, her religion, her heritage, and her way of living. I am glad I was there to capture it. I think she may have whispered "Go Bear!", however I cannot confirm that ;O
This shot was featured on this popular Armenian travel Facebook site (not my site):
Fabulous shot Allen. For what's worth, i gave it 8 and did not have time for bump or comment.
The other shots are outstanding also. The magical landscape (too post card-ish for me for a FS but amazing), the kids with their bird like shadows, the alphabet shot -a true FS and the horse, a classic.
I don't know how you can travel that much but you make the best of it and i would be delighted to see more.
Your name is Armenian right?
I'm thinking you should of entered that one, immediate 10 from me, the horse shot is awesome as well, thanks for the notes, it helps to picture the puzzle altogether.
the dodging and burning is overdone, but it does create an interesting, campy effect. I actually have a certain affection for this image. The campiness is justified by that marvelous woman holding something out for me. Maybe you could fix some of the haloing.... more easily said than done.
