In the city where I live the fireworks display is always on the night of the 3rd. I went with family and neighbors and we had a nice evening with good food and company. A few hours after this the speed challenge was announced. So, on the 4th I went by myself to a neighboring suburb for their show. It got awfully crowded so I thought I would work the crowd into the shot.
This is from a single image. The only thing I did that edged into the Expert editing rule set is a cloned out some spot remnants of one fireworks burst that was petering out as the shutter opened.

Personally, I think this is the best of the top three - would have given it a FIRST place. The inclusion of the crowd makes a much more interesting photo and technically, it's a job well done. Great image - congratulations. :)
