Photographer’s Notes I was wandering around Seattle Center shooting with a friend and we spent some time at the skate park there. I was chatting cameras with this boy’s brother (friend?) who also had a Nikon stuck in B&W mode. We tried unsuccessfully to find the setting to change it and gave up. I asked to shoot the boy practicing his trick (I am sure there’s a name for it but I don’t know what it is.) I was shooting in burst mode so I had about 30 or 40 frames of 5 scenes. Picked the best 5 to edit and sent them a copy. His brother sent me a mundane thank you email. But the boy sent me an “awesome” thank you email.
Shooting this was a bit of a challenge. I used high ISO and a pretty open lens because he was in shadow at midday. The skate park concrete was white and in direct sun so it was pretty blown out. Result – this looks a little too stock for my taste. But stock seems to do well here. Who knows how it will fare?
